Family Trip to Peru (9 Days)

1st day: Lima.

Upon your arrival, reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel.
Overnight at selected hotel.

2nd day: Lima

City tour through Lima, on this journey of 3 hours you will appreciate the best of the colonial side, as the beautiful colonial churches and mansions such as the Government Palace, The Main Square, The City Hall, The Cathedral and The San Francisco Convent, considered gems of the colonial architecture of the XVI century. The tour continues all the way to the residential and business district of San Isidro and the touristic district of Miraflores, where you will visit the “Parque del Amor” (Park of Love) where you will appreciate a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. To end with this tour you will visit Larco Museum, where you will see a private collection that has an insuperable number of Ancient Peru treasures, which inspire the visitors to discover, understand and enjoy more than five thousand years of Peruvian history through more than 45,000 pieces.

3rd day: Lima/Cusco

Transfer to Lima airport. Flight to Cusco city.
Upon arrival in Cusco, transfer to the Hotel in Sacred Valley.
Pick up from hotel and transfer to the horse ranch in Ollantaytambo, in the place saddling the horses start the ride to Pumamarca along the route will enjoy a spectacular view of the archaeological complex and the surrounding countryside. Arriving Pumamarca we will visit the Inca ruins then return to Ollantaytambo through the same way.

4th day: Sacred Valley

Visit to the Andean community of Misminay, in the outskirts of Cusco, where you will be able to live with the tradition preserving locals. The tour to the village goes through native botanical species crop fields, using a narrow and winding path that will take us to the village, located at 3,700 meters over sea level and a natural balcony with a spectacular view to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the snow-covered mountains. Families live along in small single or double room houses, made out of adobe. They raise guinea pigs (cuyes), cattle and sheep. Passenger will be able to plow or harvest the soil, depending on the time of the year, appreciate a toast to honor the earth—ceremony in honor of Mother Earth— and enjoy a traditional lunch cooked by the ladies of Misminay, with naturally cultivated ingredients from their camps. Additionally, you will observe the ladies spinning, wool dyeing with natural ingredients, and lastly tapestry knitting, according to the ancient techniques.
In the afternoon after sharing a hot drink farewell with the leaders of the community you will continue our trip to return to our hotel with the security of having shared an unforgettable and memorable experience in the Andes of Peru.

5th day: Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu

Transfer to the train station to take the train ride to Machu Picchu.
You will take the Vistadome Train and arrive to Aguas Calientes Station in Machu-Picchu and then you will be transported by bus to Machu Picchu citadel, one of the most renowned examples of the Inca’s architecture, surrounded by an amazing landscape of lush forest. Lost in history, Machu Picchu was not discovered until 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham, but was built in the middle of XV century. The name of the citadel comes from the Quechua language that means “Old Mountain” and apparently was the principal Inca’s Sanctuary. After a guided visit of the ruins, you will have a self-service lunch at Mapi Sanctuary.
At the end of the day, you will take the train back to Cusco.

6th day: Cusco

During this tour, we will walk to appreciate the colonial side of Cusco city, built over the foundations of Incan palaces. We will be able to visit the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun, where you will appreciate the magnificent’s building work and the Main Square, where you will visit the Cathedral, with impressive crafts on carved wood. Lastly, visit to the neighborhood of San Blas, where you will find the best artists of the city.
It lasts between 1h 30 and 2h and you learn all the steps from harvest of the cacao in a plantation to the production of a chocolate bar. You will roast the cacao beans, peel them and grind them to produce a paste. This cacao paste was used to prepare the first known cacao drink the traditional chocolate (invented by the Mayas). You will be able to take your own chocolate home.

7th day: Cusco

The Santa Catalina Convent and Museum was built between 1601 and 1610 over the ruins of the ancient Acllawasi, the "House of the Sun Virgins" or "House of the Chosen Girls." The interior of the monastery is beautiful, with painted arches and an interesting chapel with baroque frescoes. It has one of the most beautiful capitulary rooms in Peru, which is completely decorated with mural paintings.The museum exhibition of the Monastery was renovated in 2008 to reflect the environment and the ways of the monastic life, which has preserved many ancient practices through several centuries.
Enjoy something unique in your trip to the City of the Incas. You will learn from the hand of a famous Cusco potter the different techniques for making lovely pieces of pottery, inspired by Andean and Colonial art motifs. After the class you would choose one piece of pottery to decorate by yourself and take it with you as a beautiful souvenir.
At the appointed time, you will return to the station to take your train ride to Ollantaytambo station at the Sacred Valley.
Transfer from Ollanta Station in the Sacred Valley to Cusco Hotel.

8th day: Cusco/Lima

Transfer from the hotel to the airport. Flight to Lima. Upon your arrival, reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel.
You will visit Indian Market, a great opportunity to appreciate and acquire excellent Peruvian art pieces and handicrafts.
Visit the amazing Magic Water Circuit, considered the largest fountains' complex of the world, obtaining the Guinness Record. The main fountain spreads a jet of water that reaches a height of 80 meters. We recommend walking through "The Tunnel of Surprises" about 35 meters long, go through "The Children Fountain" that has an irresistible water system to play and the "Daydream Labyrinth" fountain which has walls of water with different effects.

9th day: Lima / home
